🍷

Bordeaux

Bordeaux is where many travelers first fall in love with French wine: polished reds, graceful structure, and labels that feel instantly iconic. The region is built around blending, so you often get both richness and restraint in the same glass.

At Sip Paris, we guide visitors toward bottles that show Bordeaux at its most generous, whether you want a classic Left Bank red or a softer, velvety Right Bank style.

🍇

Burgundy

Burgundy is all about nuance. Its reds can be feather-light yet hauntingly complex, while its whites are among the most elegant Chardonnay wines on earth.

Tourists often come in asking for Burgundy by reputation; at Sip Paris, we help decode the villages and producers so the bottle feels exciting rather than intimidating.

🥂

Champagne

Champagne is more than a celebration wine: it can be bright and citrusy, deep and brioche-driven, or laser-sharp and mineral. The chalky soils give even richer bottles a clean, appetizing finish.

Sip Paris keeps Champagne approachable by showing the difference between house styles, so you can pick the bottle that matches your mood instead of just the most famous name.

Rhône Valley

The Rhône gives you two personalities in one region: peppery, elegant Syrah in the north and warm, sun-filled Grenache blends in the south. These are generous wines that feel instantly satisfying, especially if you like bold flavor.

At Sip Paris, Rhône bottles are a favorite for travelers who want character and value without sacrificing authenticity.

Loire Valley

The Loire is the insider's region for freshness: zesty whites, mineral Sauvignon Blanc, quietly brilliant Chenin Blanc, and sparkling bottles that feel made for long Paris afternoons. It is one of the easiest regions to love because the wines are vivid and food-friendly.

Sip Paris often recommends Loire bottles to travelers who want something unmistakably French but light, lively, and easy to carry into a picnic or lunch.

Alsace

Alsace offers some of France's most aromatic and expressive whites, often bottled in tall, elegant flutes that stand out instantly on the shelf. The wines can be dry, floral, spicy, or gently off-dry, but they nearly always feel precise and beautifully scented.

For English-speaking visitors, Alsace is a wonderful region to explore at Sip Paris because the grape names are clear and the styles are easy to compare side by side.

Guide du Débutant

What to look for on a French wine label

French labels can feel mysterious at first glance. Here is the quick version we use with travelers in the shop every day.

Available at Sip Paris

French wine labels tell you place before grape, so start with the appellation: Bordeaux, Sancerre, Chablis, and so on. The village or appellation is usually the strongest clue to style. Next, look for the producer name, because two bottles from the same region can feel very different depending on the domaine or chateau. Terms such as Grand Cru, Premier Cru, or Vieilles Vignes usually signal ambition, but they are not used the same way in every region. Vintage matters too: warmer years often taste riper, cooler years fresher and more structured. If you see Mis en Bouteille au Domaine or au Chateau, the wine was bottled at the estate. On sparkling bottles, Brut means dry, Extra Brut even drier. At Sip Paris, we translate the label into plain English and point you to the right bottle in seconds. Look for organic wording like Bio, and check alcohol for body.
